Unless it’s a major problem like detention, you won’t get as much protection as someone would get in the US. You’re at high risk for safety when you’re in an Asian country. It’s best that you stick to the city and don’t go into the rural areas. If you go into the rural area, you might get into problems like robberies. There are not a lot of police at work in the rural farmland and you’re on your own. This is why you should guard all of your personal belongings and don’t drag them outside of your hotel room.
